Vintage pair of Dalù table lamps designed by Vico Magistretti for the Italian company Artemide. This process created a delicacy that became popular among the aristocracy, particularly in Russia. During the October Revolution in 1917, many Russians fled to France, bringing their beloved delicacy to Europe. The French, enamored by this imported delicacy, recognized it as a prestigious and glamorous dish to be paired with champagne. Thus, caviar became an extremely popular luxury food, but its popularity also led to the near extinction of the best fish for caviar - beluga. Fortunately, its extinction was prevented in the mid-1950s when farmed caviar was successfully introduced to the market. Today, we can still enjoy this exquisite and prestigious delicacy. Giuseppe Moretti (1857–1935) was an Italian sculptor born in Siena who spent most of his career in the United States. He was educated in Italy and later worked in Zagreb before emigrating to the U.S. in the 1880s, where he became known for monumental public sculptures as well as deeply psychological portrait and figurative bronzes. He is still recognized today as the author of numerous large-scale monuments across the United States and highly ambitious smaller portrait busts such as the present work. Before his death, he returned to Italy and spent his final years in San Remo, where he passed away.

CEILING LIGHT FONTANA ARTE
Ceiling light, made by the Italian company Fontana Arte, in the 1940s.
Colorful light, of interesting shape, is probably the result of the work of the designer Pietro Chiesa, who was active at Fontana Arte during those years. The light will enhance any space and enrich it. It is made of two glass domes, one of which features a colorful painting, complemented by beautiful high-quality brass details, testifying to the exceptional quality of this product. The Fontana Arte company evolved from a business founded by Luigi Fontana in 1881, where they produced glass panels. It achieved great success in the construction sector and became one of the largest glass producers in Italy. In the early 1930s, Fontana aimed to ambitiously enter the market of artistic glass and decor, so he hired the renowned Italian designer Gia Ponti to assist him. Thus, in 1933, Fontana Arte was established, which merged the same year with the company of Pietro Chiesa – Bottega di Pietro Chiesa. Gio Ponti and Pietro Chiesa became the artistic directors of the company. They quickly became a recognized and esteemed company, producing many refined glass products such as stained glass, lighting, mirrors, and even glass furniture. In the post-war years, when the economy was in turmoil, they continued to produce prestigious pieces, mainly for hotels and offices. In 1954, the artistic direction was taken over by Max Ingrand, which opened the doors to a new era for the company. With his creations, they proved themselves and regained a prestigious reputation. Fontana Arte went through several phases, both good and bad, but the company still survives to this day. In 1998, Fontana Arte even received the ADI Compasso d’Oro award for its significant contribution to the Italian design heritage. Today, they are still involved in design, and they invite many architects and designers of the 21st century to create. Their important works can also be seen in significant museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where their works can be found in the permanent collection. SPRING-LOADED CANDLE HOLDER DITMAR
Spring-loaded candle holder made by the Ditmar company, produced between 1895 and 1907.
A rare example of a perfectly preserved spring-loaded candle holder. The candle holder, with its spring, allows you to adjust the height of the candle so that, regardless of the candle's length, it always stays at the same height. An interesting addition to a festive table or a shelf where you can always admire it. Karl Rudolf Ditmar, the founder of the Ditmar company, was born on May 3, 1818, in Prenzlau - Brandenburg. He came to Vienna in 1839. During a business trip to Paris, he is said to have encountered the still-controversial, heavy-working moderator lamp. Improving these lamps soon became his main concern. On August 5, 1840, Ditmar founded a trading company dealing with oil lamps, cups, and lacquered tin. The next step was establishing a workshop for lamp repairs, followed by an attempt at in-house production. Together with his brother Friedrich, whom he invited to Vienna, Rudolf led the company as "Gebrüder Ditmar" in 1841. For this purpose, a "state permit for the production of lacquered tin and zinc composite goods" was issued, creating a legal basis for the first lamp factory in Vienna and Austria. During this time, the brothers succeeded in developing the "Viennese moderator lamp," a spring-loaded lamp that was both inexpensive and reliable due to its adjustable oil supply. After the death of his brother Friedrich in 1858, "Gebrüder" was removed from the company's name, and it became Lampen Fabrik R. Ditmar. SCULPTURE OF VIRGIN MARY AND JESUS, 15. – 16. CENTURY
Polychromed wooden sculpture of the Enthroned Virgin and Jesus. Central Europe, probably late 15th or early 16th century.
An exceptional wooden sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary seated on a throne with the Christ Child resting on her lap, holding a book in His hand. Sculptures of this type are known by the Latin term Sedes Sapientiae, meaning "Throne of Wisdom." This title represents one of the oldest appellations of the Virgin Mary. The concept is that Mary serves as the throne upon which Christ sits, Christ being understood in Christian theology as the embodiment of Divine Wisdom (Sapientia Dei).
The medieval character of this sculpture is further reflected in the depiction of Christ. Rather than being portrayed as a typical child, as became common in later centuries, He appears as a miniature adult. This follows the medieval theological idea that Christ was, from birth, the perfect God and Teacher.
The sculpture displays finely carved details, revealing the hand of a skilled and accomplished craftsman. The polychromy itself bears witness to the passage of time through later historical overpaintings and restorations. The various layers of paint allow us to trace, almost visually, the centuries through which this remarkable object has survived.
