TRAMP ART MIRROR

590,00

Tramp art mirror.

An exceptional tramp art frame with a mirror. It is crafted from wooden cigarette boxes, which can be seen in the background of the frame, confirming its authenticity. The romantic touch to the frame is the heart at the top. An intriguing addition to your bathroom, hallway, or foyer. Tramp art, also known as "hobo art," was popular from around the 1870s to the 1940s. Nobody knows exactly when it began, but the materials used, especially wooden cigarette boxes, became standard around the 1850s. Smoking cigarettes was very popular at the time, and by law, cigarette manufacturers couldn't reuse the boxes, making them an excellent source of material. Tramp art is believed to have evolved from the folk art tradition of carving. Cigar boxes and pieces of wood from dismantled wooden crates were carved and pieced together, creating picture frames, decorated boxes, and even items of furniture. The style is said to have originated from Germany and Scandinavia but can be found in all industrialized countries. The name comes from the myth that tramp art was created by hobos and that they would typically exchange their creations for food and shelter. Although there is some truth to this myth, many tramp art creators were skilled artisans who devoted much time to their creative endeavors. Most tramp art pieces are not signed or dated, adding to the mystique surrounding them. Dimensions: 64.5 x 45 x 2.5 cm Weight: 2.8 kg The mirror is excellently preserved.

This exceptional light will elevate any space, bringing that special touch that only a high-quality product, crafted by multiple generations of skilled artisans, can provide. Undoubtedly a wall lamp that will not go unnoticed.

Banci Firenze – named after its founder Giuseppe Banci, who first opened his shop in 1899, initially as a store, later adding a workshop where chandeliers and mirrors were restored. They quickly gained a reputation as skilled artisans, working in the traditional ways and using the same materials. The neighborhood where Banci was located had been known since medieval times as a hub of artists and craftsmen, renowned worldwide for its master blacksmiths. Thanks to this guild, Florence became an economic powerhouse and a meeting place for famous artists and artisans.

In the 1930s, inspired by the city’s history and the knowledge he had gained over years of restoration work, Giuseppe Banci, together with his children Gaston and Ghita, began producing the first “Banci” chandeliers. Although Gaston passed away young, Ghita continued the craft, and later three of Gaston’s children joined the company. This generation elevated Banci to new heights, expanding sales internationally and creating new lamp models. This led to new collections and unique pieces, blending one-of-a-kind creations with small-batch production. Today, Jacopo Banci works alongside his father Massimo, making Banci a company with over 100 years of history, spanning four generations, and representing Florence’s cultural and artisanal pride.

ANTIQUE CAVIAR DISH

Antique caviar dish, from the early 20th century, made in England.

Host a bohemian party and impress your guests, or indulge yourself on a special occasion with royal treatment. This dish will undoubtedly be the finishing touch to any luxurious table setting. Caviar hasn't always been considered a prestigious dish, despite humanity enjoying it for at least 2000 years. During ancient times, it was not treated as a gourmet delicacy. Its transformation began in the Middle Ages when caviar was used as a meat substitute and preserved in salt to prolong its shelf life. This process created a delicacy that became popular among the aristocracy, particularly in Russia. During the October Revolution in 1917, many Russians fled to France, bringing their beloved delicacy to Europe. The French, enamored by this imported delicacy, recognized it as a prestigious and glamorous dish to be paired with champagne. Thus, caviar became an extremely popular luxury food, but its popularity also led to the near extinction of the best fish for caviar - beluga. Fortunately, its extinction was prevented in the mid-1950s when farmed caviar was successfully introduced to the market. Today, we can still enjoy this exquisite and prestigious delicacy. Dimensions: 17 x 17 x 14 cm Weight: 480 g The caviar dish is well preserved. There are some cracks in the porcelain lacquer, but they do not detract from its appearance or functionality.
