He is still recognized today as the author of numerous large-scale monuments across the United States and highly ambitious smaller portrait busts such as the present work. DEATH MASK
The creation of death masks is one of the oldest sculptural techniques, serving as a memory of the deceased or as a model for creating portraits. They are made by taking an impression of the face of the deceased in wax or plaster, usually a few hours after death.
The particular death mask you have is original and made of plaster, depicting an unknown man. It is an unusual addition to any room, carrying significant symbolic meaning (Memento mori). Death masks are undoubtedly one of the most intriguing traditions of humanity, a way for people to preserve the memory of the deceased. The most famous death masks come from Egypt, where they were buried with the deceased. Similarly, ancient Roman masks made of wax are known, used as a model for carving into tombstones. This tradition continues for centuries until the end of the Middle Ages when there was a shift in the material used, and masks began to be made of plaster. During this time, masks started to be used in funeral ceremonies and were later kept in libraries, museums, and universities. Death masks were not only made for royal and noble figures but also for prominent individuals such as poets, philosophers, and playwrights. Vintage pair of Dalù table lamps designed by Vico Magistretti for the Italian company Artemide. This is one of the most iconic models of Italian space age design, originally conceived in the mid-1960s. Thanks to its futuristic silhouette, the Dalù lamp was soon recognized as one of the most distinctive pieces of modernist design.
This pair is particularly interesting because they come from an early Italian production, confirmed by the embossed marking on the underside of the lamps and the metal spring used to hold the electrical cord.

ERGONOMIC CHAIR TAN SAD
Ergonomic chair "Do More," manufactured by Tan Sad in England for Ahrend around 1920.
A special, rare, vintage ergonomic chair in its original condition. It was used by employees of the Opcina tramway in Opicina, making it not only an interesting industrial chair but also one with a fascinating history and story. Ahrend introduced itself to the Dutch market with a series of chairs and tables called "doe meer" (do more). They were manufactured in the Tan Sad factory in England, known for producing the first ergonomic chairs. In 1920, comfort was a significant luxury, and factory workers often sat on benches without backrests. The "Do More" chair was, therefore, far ahead of its time. As seen in advertisements from that era, it promised workers: "The ideal chair for the working person. For use in offices, drafting rooms, laboratories, for operating office machines and telephones, etc. The right support for your work." Due to its specially designed frame – the seat is adjustable in height, and the backrest can be adjusted in height and angle – it is a chair on which you can sit for hours without any issues, while also encouraging proper posture. WROUGHT IRON BOX, 1946
Wrought iron box, made in 1946, Germany.
A fully hand-forged iron box made by the craftsman FR. Sauer in Essen-Steele, Germany. A solid and heavy piece with beautiful decorative wrought iron details and an original working lock with key. In addition to its exceptional craftsmanship, what makes this piece especially remarkable is the year of its production. The year 1946, immediately after World War II, was a time of extreme material shortage in Germany. Objects like this were often made from recycled iron and produced in small artisan workshops, as industrial production had not yet fully recovered. This is also confirmed by the stamp on the bottom of the box.
This iron box therefore represents a high-quality example of post-war craftsmanship and a small but authentic piece of history.
