PIETÀ

2.200,00

Pietà, bronze sculpture.

This sculpture depicts the poignant scene of the Virgin Mary cradling the lifeless body of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion and before his entombment. Crafted in bronze, it is an outstanding example of religious art, though its creator remains unknown. The piece exudes deep emotional intensity, showcasing an astonishing level of detail and a realistic portrayal of human suffering and divine sorrow. Unsigned and undated, this Pietà nevertheless conveys the universal language of grief and compassion. Mary is depicted in a moment of silent mourning and meditation, her face expressing serenity and inner strength. Jesus’ lifeless body, while still, is rendered with anatomical precision, evoking the peace that follows his suffering. One of the most striking features of this work is the masterful depiction of drapery. The folds in Mary’s garments create a dramatic contrast with the smoothness of the figures’ skin, enhancing both the realism and the symbolic depth of the scene. Though its author is unknown, this Pietà stands as a powerful testament to timeless themes such as sacrifice, maternal love, death, and the hope of resurrection. Its anonymity adds another layer of mystery and universality to this deeply moving piece, which continues to inspire awe and contemplative reverence in all who behold it. Dimensions: 85 x 25 x 17 cm Weight: 21 kg The Pietà is in excellent condition.

VENUS DE MILO STATUE

280,00

Statue of the Venus de Milo, made in Italy in the 1960s.

This exquisite statue of the Venus de Milo was crafted by Amilcare Santini (1910–1975), inspired by the renowned ancient Greek sculpture of the goddess of love, Aphrodite, also known as Venus de Milo. The Venus de Milo statue was created using a technique to which Santini himself contributed significantly. The process involved mixing marble, alabaster, and resin, which were then poured into pre-prepared molds crafted by the master himself. Once the material solidified at room temperature, the model was removed from the mold and hand-finished. Santini took great pleasure in creating replicas of works by Greek and Roman masters of sculpture and painting, and his sculptures are considered among the most prestigious museum-quality lines of sculptures in the world. Indeed, no replica is said to approach the originals as closely as those by Amilcare Santini. This is a perfect opportunity to bring a piece of the ancient past, along with Santini's craftsmanship, into your home. TRAMP ART FRAME

340,00

Tramp art frame.

A tramp art frame with a religious painting depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Tramp art, also known as "hobo art," was popular from the 1870s to the 1940s. No one knows exactly when it began, but the materials used, especially wooden cigar boxes, became standard around the 1850s. Smoking cigarettes was very popular at that time, and by law, cigarette manufacturers could not reuse boxes, making them an excellent source of material. Tramp art is believed to have developed from the folk art tradition of wood carving. Cigar boxes and pieces of wood from dismantled wooden crates were carved and assembled together, creating frames for pictures, decorated boxes, and even pieces of furniture. The style is thought to have originated from Germany and Scandinavia but can be found in all industrialized countries. The name comes from the myth that tramp art was created by hobos who would usually exchange their products for food and shelter. While there is some truth to this myth, many tramp art creators were skilled craftsmen who dedicated a lot of time to their creative endeavors. Most tramp art pieces are not signed or dated, adding to the mystique that surrounds them. Dimensions: 60.5 x 41.5 x 3 cm Weight: 2.6 kg The frame is in excellent condition.

Sappho (circa 630–570 BC) was an ancient Greek poet from the island of Lesbos, and she was one of the most highly regarded poets of her time. Her poetry is known for its intimacy, sensuality, and emotional depth, often exploring themes of love, longing, and beauty. She primarily wrote lyric poetry, often accompanied by the music of the lyre, which allowed her to captivate audiences with her distinctive sensuality. Despite being a wife and mother, Sappho devoted much of her poetry to love for women, which led to her becoming a symbol of homosexual love, especially among women. Her poetry was also highly regarded in antiquity, with Aristotle and other ancient writers ranking her among the Nine Muses. Though much of her work has been lost over the centuries, some poems, such as the famous "Hymn to Aphrodite," have been preserved almost in their entirety, while others remain as fragments. Still, their beauty and emotional expression continue to captivate readers and scholars worldwide. Dimensions: 69 x 47 x 26 cm Weight: 7.8 kg The bust is in excellent condition.
