BRASS MORTAR

A massive mortar that is a replica of 17th-century mortars. Such large mortars were primarily used in the 17th century in pharmacies and monasteries for grinding large quantities of herbs. In the 19th century, these replicas became mainly status symbols in wealthy bourgeois kitchens, although some still found their way into pharmacies.
The presented mortar is richly decorated with relief mascarons, garlands, and the Roman date MDC XXX (1630). It also includes the original matching pestle for grinding, which is likewise heavy and made of brass.
Today, this luxurious mortar can serve as an exceptional decorative and functional piece in your kitchen or professional space.

ANTIQUE FIREPROOF SAFE
Fireproof safe made by R. Tánczos, Vienna, circa 1885.
An exceptionally well-preserved small-format fireproof safe from the renowned Viennese factory R. Tánczos, established in 1869. This was the first manufacturer of fireproof safes in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, combining impregnated wood with an iron casing — an innovation of its time. Additionally, it was protected with fire-resistant materials, ensuring a high level of safety for its contents even in the event of a fire.
The safe retains its original interior label, richly decorated with gilded and ornamental printing, also stating the successful fire resistance tests held before the authorities of Vienna on July 6th and December 1st, 1885. On the lid, a heavy brass badge is stamped with the inscription “FEUERFEST PATENT TÁNCZOS WIEN”, further confirming the authenticity and high quality of its craftsmanship. Two original keys are included, which is a true rarity for such items.
Today, this safe is an excellent collector’s item as well as a functional decorative piece.

ANTIQUE WINE GLASS
Antique wine glass crafted by the prestigious French glassmaking company Saint Louis in the early 1900s.
An exceptional work of Saint Louis glassmakers, who have been crafting glass art since 1586. The glass is ruby-colored, with 24-carat gold leaf depicting lions, floral wreaths, and bows. The motif is also known as the Congress pattern, which is extremely rare, as such patterns have not been produced for a long time. The glass is exceptionally elegant and refined, with the gold leaf adding prestige, while the ruby color adds vibrancy, ensuring that this is a glass you would want to showcase prominently in your collection. The wine glass is already an outstanding and rare piece in itself, but there is another aspect that makes it particularly rare and desirable among collectors of fine and authentic items. On its stem, we can observe an inventive repair, executed with special skill, adding a unique touch to the glass that speaks volumes about its history and previous owners. Inventive repairs are made when an object is damaged. In Japan, such repairs are called "kintsugi," where it has long been believed that if something is damaged and has a history, it becomes even more beautiful and magnificent; hence, damages are often filled with gold. This shows that people used to respect their belongings more, and when items were damaged, they were repaired rather than discarded and replaced with new ones as we often do today. Even wealthy people didn't just discard and replace damaged items; instead, they entrusted them to craftsmen who could not only restore the item but also add additional decorative value through the repair, as was the case with this wine glass. Throughout history, desk bells were primarily used in aristocratic households. During long dinners, they were used to summon a maid to serve another course or refresh drinks. This practice was especially common in America, whereas in Europe it was more customary for servants to remain near the dining table and attend to guests' needs directly. Desk bells became widely used across Europe during the 19th century, when hotels, restaurants, shops, and other public establishments created a growing demand for them.

A fully hand-forged iron box made by the craftsman FR. Sauer in Essen-Steele, Germany. A solid and heavy piece with beautiful decorative wrought iron details and an original working lock with key. In addition to its exceptional craftsmanship, what makes this piece especially remarkable is the year of its production. The year 1946, immediately after World War II, was a time of extreme material shortage in Germany. Objects like this were often made from recycled iron and produced in small artisan workshops, as industrial production had not yet fully recovered. This is also confirmed by the stamp on the bottom of the box.
This iron box therefore represents a high-quality example of post-war craftsmanship and a small but authentic piece of history.
