Writing desk, crafted in 1885 in the vicinity of Ptuj, is opulent, top-notch, and rare—adjectives that aptly describe this exceptional writing desk made in the Neo-Renaissance style.

However, the most extraordinary aspect of this piece lies in its history. This is a desk with Slovenian origins, created by the hands of a Slovenian master, as indicated by inscriptions on the backside of the drawer. SPRING-LOADED CANDLE HOLDER DITMAR

330,00

Spring-loaded candle holder made by the Ditmar company, produced between 1895 and 1907.

A rare example of a perfectly preserved spring-loaded candle holder. The candle holder, with its spring, allows you to adjust the height of the candle so that, regardless of the candle's length, it always stays at the same height. An interesting addition to a festive table or a shelf where you can always admire it. Karl Rudolf Ditmar, the founder of the Ditmar company, was born on May 3, 1818, in Prenzlau - Brandenburg. He came to Vienna in 1839. During a business trip to Paris, he is said to have encountered the still-controversial, heavy-working moderator lamp. Improving these lamps soon became his main concern. On August 5, 1840, Ditmar founded a trading company dealing with oil lamps, cups, and lacquered tin. The next step was establishing a workshop for lamp repairs, followed by an attempt at in-house production. Together with his brother Friedrich, whom he invited to Vienna, Rudolf led the company as "Gebrüder Ditmar" in 1841. For this purpose, a "state permit for the production of lacquered tin and zinc composite goods" was issued, creating a legal basis for the first lamp factory in Vienna and Austria. During this time, the brothers succeeded in developing the "Viennese moderator lamp," a spring-loaded lamp that was both inexpensive and reliable due to its adjustable oil supply. After the death of his brother Friedrich in 1858, "Gebrüder" was removed from the company's name, and it became Lampen Fabrik R. Ditmar. Even after his death in 1895, the company retained his name and tradition. Dimensions: 41 x 11.5 cm Weight: 510 g The spring-loaded candle holder is in excellent condition.

VINTAGE TV LAMP

260,00

Vintage TV Lamp from the 1950s, made in the Italian town of Laveno.

A ceramic lamp that once served as an accessory to the television. Today, you can still use it for the same purpose or use it to decorate a table or shelf, as it is an excellent decorative piece due to its attractive colors and atmospheric light. Ever heard of a TV lamp? In the 1950s, the presence of television increased in middle-class households. In its infancy, television was already showing itself as a central part of the modern home. "TV" was changing life in the same way personal computers did three decades later, and like most technological inventions, there were concerns. Many believed that watching television in a darkened room could cause eye damage. Considering that consumers were accustomed to watching movies in darkened theaters, it was only natural for the tradition to carry over to home viewing. Even the earliest televisions emitted relatively low light, so watching in dim light was almost necessary. Soon, many televisions were adorned with a new accessory, a ceramic, illuminated figurine... the TV lamp. The ambient light created by these lamps seemed to reduce eye strain and allowed viewing without guilt. TV lamps soon became an essential addition to family television. Although they dominated as favorite household items for only about 10 years, their design significance still influences today. TV lamps came in thousands of variations from hundreds of manufacturers, and although made from various materials, the vast majority were ceramic, coated with a glossy glaze in one of the popular colors of that decade. Most of these charming household sculptures represented members of the animal kingdom (horses, deer, dogs, birds, domestic cats, and the ever-popular panther), some depicted people, while others were purely exercises in abstract design. Dimensions: 22.5 x 14.5 cm Weight: 500 g The TV lamp is in excellent condition, without cracks in the glaze. Compatible with an E14 bulb.
