MID-CENTURY TV LAMP

120,00

1950s TV lamp.

Ceramic lamp that used to serve as an accessory to the television. Even today, you can use it for the same purpose or decorate a table or shelf with it, as it is an excellent decorative piece due to its attractive colors and the atmospheric light it emits. Have you heard of a TV lamp? In the 1950s, the presence of television was increasing in middle-class households. Even in its early days, television was already showing itself as a central part of the modern home. "TV" was changing lives in the same way personal computers would three decades later, and like with most technological inventions, there were concerns. Many believed that watching television in a darkened room could cause eye damage. Considering that consumers were used to watching movies in darkened theaters, it was quite natural for the tradition to be transferred to home viewing. Even the earliest televisions emitted relatively weak light, so watching in low light was almost a necessity. Soon, many televisions were adorned with a new decoration, a ceramic, illuminated figurine... the TV lamp. It seemed that the ambient light created by these lamps reduced eye strain and allowed viewing without guilt. TV lamps soon became an essential accessory for family television. Although they dominated as favorite household items for only about 10 years, their design significance still influences today. TV lamps were available in thousands of variations from hundreds of manufacturers, and although made from various materials, the majority were ceramic, coated with glossy glaze in one of the popular colors of that decade. Most of these charming household sculptures represented members of the animal kingdom (horses, deer, dogs, birds, domestic cats, and the ever-popular panther), some were human figures, while others were just exercises in abstract design. Dimensions: 20 cm Weight: 670 g The TV lamp is in excellent condition, without cracks in the glaze. For E14 light bulbs.

ANTIQUE OIL LAMP

290,00

Mid-19th Century Oil Lamp

This intriguing hand-forged oil lamp was in use up until the invention of electricity. Typically, it was filled with rapeseed oil or whale oil. However, since the light produced by such fuels is weak, kerosene was often mixed in to strengthen the flame. Such lamps were mostly used as work lights. In our region, a similar lamp can be found in the Idrija museum, where it is presented as a miner's lamp. Abroad, its use is often associated with weavers, as weaving usually started when there was no more work in the fields and the days began to shorten, making the additional light very welcome. Today, this interesting oil lamp can be an attractive decorative piece, especially because of the rooster decorating the screw used to open the lamp for oil refilling and wick replacement. Of course, the lamp is still functional; just pour in the chosen fuel, and it's ready to light up your dark days and nights. Dimensions: 61 x 14 x 12 cm Weight: 1.5 kg The oil lamp is in excellent condition.

BANCI FIRENZE WALL LAMP

467,00

Wall lamp from the second half of the 20th century, crafted by Banci in Florence.

This highly decorative light, exceptionally crafted, will be perfect for spaces where you want to add that extra touch that only a high-quality product from the hands of multi-generational masters can bring. Undoubtedly, a wall lamp that will not go unnoticed. Banci Firenze - named after its founder Giuseppe Banci, who opened the doors of his company in 1899, initially as a store, later adding a workshop where they restored chandeliers and mirrors. They quickly gained fame as skilled artisans, working as in the past and using the same materials. The neighborhood where Banci was located has been known since medieval times as the "Guild of Artists and Artisans" and globally recognized for skilled blacksmiths. Thanks to this guild, the city of Florence became a major economic force and a center where famous artists and craftsmen gathered. The history of the city and the acquired knowledge during years of restoration inspired Giuseppe Banci in the 1930s. Along with his children Gaston and Ghito, he began producing the first "Banci" chandeliers. Though Gaston passed away at a young age, chandelier production continued, with Ghita taking over the Banci business. Later, three children of Gaston joined the company, elevating the Banci name to a new level. They expanded sales to other countries and created new models of lights, leading to new collections and unique items in a flourishing symbiotic relationship between one-of-a-kind pieces and small serial productions. Today, Jacopo Banci collaborates with his father Massimo Banci, making Banci a 100-year-old, four-generation cultural and artisanal pride of Florence. Dimensions: 50 x 25 x 12 cm Weight: 1040 g The wall lamp is in excellent condition. Suitable for two E14 light bulbs.
