This exquisite piece was produced by Amilcare Santini (1910–1975), one of the most renowned Italian sculptors of the 20th century. Santini played a significant role in developing a unique sculptural technique in which finely ground marble and alabaster were mixed with resin and then cast into moulds designed by the artist himself. Once the material had cured at room temperature, the sculpture was removed from the mould and meticulously hand-finished, giving each piece an individual character and exceptional quality.

The present sculpture perfectly reflects Santini’s admiration for the great masters of Antiquity. Throughout his career, he created highly refined interpretations and reproductions inspired by ancient Greek and Roman sculpture.
