SPACE AGE SERVING TROLLEY

430,00 €

Serving trolley, made in Italy, 1970s

A serving trolley in a spectacular shade of orange, highly characteristic of the era in which it was made. Its chrome-plated metal frame creates a striking contrast and beautifully highlights the Space Age aesthetic of the piece. The trays are made of durable, thick plastic and feature recessed edges that help prevent items from sliding off.

Its modular design makes it particularly versatile and practical. The upper chrome rail can be raised and transformed into a convenient handle for moving the trolley. The entire piece can also be folded halfway to create a shelving unit for plants, books, or decorative objects. When not in use, it can be fully folded flat for easy storage.

Its authenticity and quality are further confirmed by the brev. (brevettato) marking, indicating that the design and patent were protected by the manufacturer.

Whether serving as the star of your next gathering or as a functional statement piece, this trolley will bring a vibrant touch of colour and iconic 1970s Italian design to any interior.

ANTIQUE CHAIR

1.450,00 €

Antique chair, made in England between 1750 and 1850.

This chair is a typical example from the late 18th to early 19th century. It features a drawer under the seat, providing storage for various items. Due to its solidity, it's incredibly eye-catching, making it an excellent piece for highlighting and enriching a space. The chair itself boasts other wonderful details that only such an old piece can have. These include wooden pegs, which often replaced expensive iron nails in those times since they were hand-forged. Another detail is the beautifully patinated wood, which, upon touch, tells the story of its rich history. Most captivating is its shape, as the chair is not precisely formed and exhibits many asymmetrical details, lending it a playful naivety and confirming that it was entirely handmade, without the aid of mechanized tools. The story behind the chair with a drawer is also fascinating, as there are several versions. One story suggests that such chairs were made on farms in England for those assisting in lambing. The person would sit on this chair, waiting for the lambing, with a drawer under the seat containing a Bible and whisky to sustain them. These chairs were typically made by carpenters not accustomed to furniture-making, which explains the asymmetrical shape. Another tale suggests that such chairs were found in wealthier households, known as "salt thrones" as they stored salt, a prestigious spice at the time, in the drawer. Sitting on such a chair during a meal signified a special honor, as being seated above the salt was a mark of distinction. Thus, this chair is a true throne of history, capable of telling many stories of the past and inspiring us with its grandeur. Dimensions: 97 x 57 x 50 cm Weight: 18 kg The chair is excellently preserved.

ERGONOMIC CHAIR TAN SAD

320,00 €

Ergonomic chair "Do More," manufactured by Tan Sad in England for Ahrend around 1920.

A special, rare, vintage ergonomic chair in its original condition. It was used by employees of the Opcina tramway in Opicina, making it not only an interesting industrial chair but also one with a fascinating history and story. Ahrend introduced itself to the Dutch market with a series of chairs and tables called "doe meer" (do more). They were manufactured in the Tan Sad factory in England, known for producing the first ergonomic chairs. In 1920, comfort was a significant luxury, and factory workers often sat on benches without backrests. The "Do More" chair was, therefore, far ahead of its time. As seen in advertisements from that era, it promised workers: "The ideal chair for the working person. For use in offices, drafting rooms, laboratories, for operating office machines and telephones, etc. The right support for your work." Due to its specially designed frame – the seat is adjustable in height, and the backrest can be adjusted in height and angle – it is a chair on which you can sit for hours without any issues, while also encouraging proper posture. Dimensions: 82 x 54 x 46 cm Weight: 9.2 kg The chair is in good condition, and although it could be reupholstered, the original cover adds to its sentimental value.
