This exquisite statue of a woman was created by Amilcare Santini (1910–1975) using a technique he significantly contributed to developing. The statue is made through a process in which marble, alabaster, and resin are mixed together and then poured into pre-prepared molds, meticulously crafted by Santini himself. Once the material hardened at room temperature, the model was removed from the mold and hand-finished.
The presented statue reflects Santini’s fascination with the masters of past centuries, as he often created replicas inspired by ancient Greek and Roman sculptors. His sculptures are considered some of the most prestigious museum-quality pieces in the world. It is said that no other replicas come as close to the original hand-carved marble sculptures as those by Amilcare Santini.
