The Rex Chair is one of the most well-known products of Slovenian industrial design. It was designed in 1952 by the architect and designer Niko Kralj, who was then the head of the development department at Stol. Kralj is considered one of the global legends in industrial design. Rex was the first chair in Slovenia designed for mass production, manufactured using the technology of pressed and perforated plywood. It became an example of a flawlessly ergonomic and functional product, a cult item among design-conscious individuals worldwide. Over two million Rex chairs have been produced to date. The Rex Chair is part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, the Danish Design Museum (Designmuseum Danmark), and the Museumsquartier in Vienna.
