    “Ostrica” table lamp, manufactured by the Italian company Gamma3 in the 1970s.

    This rare table lamp, named “Ostrica” (Italian for oyster), is a true design gem that perfectly captures the playful futurism and bold creativity characteristic of the Space Age design movement. Its name already reveals the designer’s inspiration: the sculptural form was created to resemble an oyster shell.

    The vibrant orange exterior, typical of the era, provides a striking contrast to the soft cream-colored interior with a subtle pearlescent sheen. The upper inner surface is lined with a mirror, which helps reflect and amplify the light. The lamp can also be fully closed, further emphasizing its resemblance to an oyster.

    Table lamp, model Tomos1 by designer Kazuhide Takahama, made in Italy in the 1970s at Sirrah.

    A solid table lamp that will be an excellent choice for any table, allowing you to adjust its height and thus ensure excellent lighting in any position. Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) was born on the Japanese island of Kyushu. In 1953, he graduated in architecture from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.At the age of 27, he became a lecturer at the same university and got his first job as a designer: he was responsible for setting up the Japanese pavilion for the XI Triennale in Milan in 1957. On this occasion, he met Dino Gavina. This first meeting was a turning point in his career and the beginning of a fruitful collaboration and deep friendship. Before returning to Japan, Kazuhide Takahama designed Dino Gavina's Naeko sofa. While staying in Japan, he was a professor at the university and curator for architectural and design projects, but still maintained contacts with Gavina, who finally persuaded him to move to Italy. There were numerous collaborations with Italian design companies such as Gavina, Simon, Paradisoterrestre, B&B, Sirrah (later incorporated by Guzzini), to name just a few. His professional activity was not limited to designing furniture and lighting: he designed interior and exterior spaces and oversaw the renovation of private residences and public works. Among them, the facade and VIP lounge of the Guglielmo Marconi airport, and the canopies of the bus station in Bologna. Today, it can be divided into two different categories: the original plain dark clay from early Satsuma, produced in Satsumi around 1600, and elaborately decorated export Satsuma in ivory tones, which began production in the nineteenth century in various Japanese cities.     TORTURE COLLAR

    Torture collar from the second half of the 18th century.

    An interesting object from bygone times that reminds us of the dark past of humanity. Torture devices like this one were popular since the Middle Ages and were used to humiliate, torture, and control convicts and slaves. The collar was placed around a person's neck, preventing normal movement, lying down, and overall comfort. Similar collars were also used on dogs, but without a lock, only with a buckle. In this case, the collar served to protect a dog guarding livestock from potential wolf attacks.     CHANDELIER J. T. KALMAR “SONNE”

    The "Sonne" chandelier, meaning "sun" in German, is an interesting modernist fixture whose design seamlessly integrates into any contemporary space. Austrian designer and entrepreneur Julius Theodor Kalmar was born in 1884 in Vienna to Julius August Kalmar, the founder of the eponymous company specializing in chandeliers and other objects made of cast bronze. Growing up surrounded by design due to his father and their company, Julius Theodor gained rich design knowledge from an early age. His educational journey led him to the Birmingham School of Art and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he studied under the mentorship of the Secessionist architect Josef Hoffmann. After completing his studies, Julius Theodor joined his father's company in 1906 and took it over in 1913. Under his leadership, the company shifted away from the classical design of the time. Kalmar developed his distinctive design aesthetic, emphasizing the integration of form and function and combining classical traditions with innovative ideas. By the mid-1920s, his products were among the most sought after. In the 1930s, Kalmar began collaborating with the Austrian Werkbund, creating a series of glass lights with a purist aesthetic. Throughout his career, he collaborated with renowned architects such as Oskar Strnad, Josef Frank, and Oskar Wlach. In the last decade of his life, he designed numerous light collections, including the popular Atomic collection. Kalmar passed away in 1968, but the Kalmar company continues to create luxury lighting to this day. Kalmar lights can be found in prestigious locations like the Kremlin Presidential Palace and the Burj Tower in Dubai.
