Sorrento table, 19th century.

An exceptional inlaid table, named after the city of Sorrento in Italy, which became famous over the centuries for producing high-quality furniture. They were especially known for their intricately inlaid tables, such as this one. The detailed inlays on the table are made from various types of wood, arranged in a complex geometric pattern, showcasing the craftsmanship of the maker.

Tables like this one were highly popular in the 19th century, especially among wealthy European travelers during the Grand Tour period. The table served as both a luxurious souvenir and a refined piece of furniture with artistic value that travelers sought to bring back to their homelands.

Today, these tables are still highly valued as collector’s items, representing excellent craftsmanship and Italian artistry.
