An advertising sign for the KdF car (Kraft durch Freude – “Strength Through Joy”), the predecessor of the iconic Volkswagen Beetle, inviting you to inquire about it with a dealer.

The KdF car was a vehicle commissioned by Adolf Hitler in 1933 as part of Nazi propaganda. It was intended to become an affordable car for the masses in Germany. However, due to the outbreak of World War II, only 630 KdF cars were produced, as priority was given to manufacturing military vehicles. After World War II, the factory producing the KdF cars was taken over by the British, who continued production under the name Volkswagen Type 1, or more famously, the Volkswagen Beetle. This car became immensely popular worldwide and is one of the best-selling automobiles of all time. The KdF car was the starting point for one of the most iconic vehicles in history, surviving the Nazi era to become a symbol of postwar reconstruction and Germany’s economic miracle.

The presented advertising sign is one of the rare remnants commemorating the origins of this legendary vehicle. It is a sought-after item for both automotive history enthusiasts and collectors of World War II memorabilia.
