The Rex Chair is one of the most renowned products of Slovenian industrial design. It was designed in 1952 by architect and designer Niko Kralj, who was then the head of the development department at Stol. Kralj is considered a global industrial design legend. Rex was the first chair in Slovenia designed for mass production, made using the technology of pressed, perforated plywood. It became an example of an ergonomically and functionally flawless product, and a cult item for design-conscious individuals worldwide. To date, more than 2 million chairs have been produced. The Rex Chair is part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art MOMA in New York, the Danish Museum of Design (Designmuseum Danmark), and the Museumsquartier in Vienna.
